Rio Rancho, NM – A tragic accident near King Road and Sheba Drive Northwest in Rio Rancho, NM, on Wednesday evening, November 13, 2024, claimed the lives of two individuals and left several others in critical condition. The Rio Rancho Police Department (RRPD) reported receiving a vehicle crash notification at around 5:30 p.m., leading officers to a collision engulfed in flames. Emergency responders from both RRPD and Rio Rancho Fire Rescue provided aid at the scene.
Multiple patients were transported to local hospitals by ground and air, with two medical helicopters seen departing near King Meadows Park later that evening. A section of King Boulevard was temporarily closed to traffic during the rescue operations.
The victims’ identities remain undisclosed pending notification of their families. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, with RRPD Captain Jacquelyn Reedy expressing condolences to the victims’ families and gratitude to all emergency personnel involved in the response.
