James Tawney is a personal injury attorney and founding partner of Tawney, Acosta & Chaparro P.C., dedicated to representing seriously injured victims and their families throughout New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona. A native of the Southwest, he began his legal career at an El Paso-based plaintiff’s personal injury firm before co-founding TAC in 2016 alongside fellow plaintiff’s attorney Alejandro Acosta. The firm now has offices in Las Cruces, Albuquerque, Carlsbad, El Paso, and Phoenix.
James is board-certified in Truck Accident Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He has served on the Texas Trial Lawyers Association Board of Directors and the State Bar of Texas Committee for Pattern Jury Charges covering Malpractice, Premises, and Products. He is also a Board Member of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers and is active in both the New Mexico and Texas Trial Lawyers Associations.
