Marisa Porras is a dedicated and results-driven personal injury attorney committed to securing justice for clients in both Texas and New Mexico. As an Associate Attorney at Tawney, Acosta & Chaparro, she's part of our pre-litigation team and manages cases from intake to settlement and disbursement.


Marisa has worked on hundreds of cases and regularly settles cases on a weekly basis, ensuring that clients receive timely and fair compensation. With extensive experience negotiating settlements, handling depositions and mediations, and overseeing case managers, she provides strategic, personalized representation to those in need. Fluent in Spanish, she is a strong advocate for injured individuals, helping them navigate the complexities of personal injury claims and securing the justice they deserve.


Before focusing on personal injury law, Marisa built a strong foundation in immigration law, representing clients in removal proceedings and handling cases involving asylum, family-based petitions, VAWA, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and other humanitarian relief programs at a Houston law firm. She successfully argued motions and appeals before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, demonstrating her ability to navigate complex legal matters. Marisa's prior experience as a law clerk at Houston and Woodlands law firms further expanded her expertise in business and family-based immigration, civil law, and family law, where she assisted in cases involving child custody, parental rights, and inheritance matters.


A recognized leader in the legal community, Marisa was one of only 20 lawyers statewide selected to the prestigious 2024-2025 State Bar of Texas LeadershipSBOT class, where she collaborates with top attorneys across Texas to develop leadership skills and mentor aspiring legal professionals.
