A tragic crash in Northeast El Paso claimed the life of 62-year-old motorcyclist Mark Alan Rasmussen on Nov. 29. Police say the collision happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dyer Street and Deer Avenue in the Parkland area. Rasmussen rode his 2007 Honda Shadow south on Dyer when a 2013 Dodge Charger, driven by 28-year-old Vyky Leilani Morgan, turned left in front of him. The impact threw Rasmussen from his motorcycle, and emergency crews rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
This incident raises the city’s total to 63 traffic deaths for the year, slightly fewer than the 75 recorded at the same time in 2023. Officials noted that earlier numbers changed after investigators determined one October death to be a suicide.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
