Lordsburg, New Mexico — A tragic Lordsburg NM car accident on Interstate 10 left one driver dead Friday afternoon. According to New Mexico State Police, a 2023 Honda Accord crossed into oncoming traffic near mile marker 46 and collided with a semi-trailer, causing the semi to overturn. This Lordsburg NM car accident has prompted an ongoing investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Investigators said a 2023 Honda Accord traveled westbound on I-10 when it crossed the center median and entered eastbound lanes. The vehicle collided with a 2025 Peterbilt semi-trailer, causing the semi to overturn. The Honda’s driver, who authorities have not identified, became trapped inside the vehicle.
Emergency crews arrived quickly and used rescue tools to free the driver. Despite immediate medical efforts, the driver died from severe injuries at the scene. The semi-truck driver escaped unharmed and did not require medical treatment.
State police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. At this time, officers do not believe alcohol contributed to the collision. Video shared on social media appears to show bystanders attempting to help at the scene while the overturned semi rests along the roadside.
