El Paso, Texas -A fiery El Paso I-10 crash sent three people to the hospital. Thirty-one-year-old Andres Rubio crashed his white Ford Raptor into a maroon Ford Explorer, destroying an overhead traffic sign. Rubio now faces charges of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.

Witnesses saw Rubio’s truck zigzag across lanes, nearly hitting other vehicles. He then crashed through a concrete barrier and rolled onto Gateway East, landing upside down. Rubio admitted drinking several alcoholic beverages at a local bar before the crash but claimed his wife was driving—even though no woman appeared at the scene.

A passenger confirmed that Rubio drove the truck and fell asleep in the passenger seat before waking after the crash. The collision caused serious injuries to an innocent bystander, who suffered five lumbar transverse fractures. Rubio and his passenger sustained minor injuries. Authorities booked Rubio into the El Paso County Downtown Jail with a $75,000 bond. He posted it and was released the same day.

This El Paso I-10 crash highlights the dangers of reckless driving and impaired operation on city freeways.
