San Angelo, TX, (November 1st, 2024) – A tragic three-vehicle collision near Grape Creek on the morning of October 31 claimed the lives of two San Angelo residents, including a 10-year-old child. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS), the crash occurred around 5:58 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 87 and March Road in Tom Green County.
The accident unfolded when the driver of a Ford pickup truck, heading west on March Road, allegedly disregarded a stop sign and entered U.S. Highway 87, colliding with a northbound Toyota pickup. The Ford was then struck by a Chevrolet SUV traveling in the same direction. Both fatalities were occupants of the Chevrolet SUV: 41-year-old Rudy Ramos and an unnamed 10-year-old girl, both from San Angelo. Three other passengers in the SUV, including two young children, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Shannon Medical Center. The drivers of the Toyota and Ford pickups were uninjured.
Concho Valley Homepage reported significant damage to the vehicles and noted that the collision closed the highway’s northbound lane for several hours. One vehicle reportedly came to rest several hundred yards from the initial impact site.
