Albuquerque, New Mexico – Authorities in Albuquerque are investigating a fatal crash that occurred shortly before 4:10 PM at the intersection of southbound Pan American Freeway NE and Jefferson Street NE. The Albuquerque Police Department, along with crews from Albuquerque Fire Rescue and Bernalillo County Fire Rescue, responded swiftly to the scene following reports of a serious multi-vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, first responders found multiple patients, including one individual receiving CPR. Sadly, that person later died from their injuries. Other individuals involved in the crash reportedly did not sustain serious injuries. Authorities also noted the possibility of a secondary crash in the same area, prompting additional caution for motorists.

As a result, the Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash Team has been dispatched to investigate the incident further. Police have closed both directions of Pan American Freeway at Jefferson Street NE, as well as the east- and westbound Jefferson bridge, urging drivers to avoid the area until the investigation is complete.

Detective and Public Information Officer Chase Jewell advised, Currently, the north and southbound Pan American FW at Jefferson ST NE, and the east/west-bound Jefferson bridge are shut down due to the crash. Motorists are asked to avoid these exits and entrances to and from Interstate 25.
