El Paso, Texas – A tragic crash early Monday morning, Aug. 18, claimed the life of a 52-year-old man after a truck lost control in Northeast El Paso. According to El Paso Police, the accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the 13100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Investigators say a Ford F-150 swerved to avoid a collision but lost control, crossing into oncoming traffic and striking a Hyundai Elantra and a Toyota Camry. The driver of the Hyundai Elantra, identified as 52-year-old Oscar Lopez, was rushed to a local hospital but later died from his injuries. The Special Traffic Unit is handling the investigation, which remains ongoing.

This marks the 39th traffic fatality of 2025 in El Paso, slightly lower than the 41 reported during the same time last year. Authorities urge anyone with information about the crash to contact Police or Crime Stoppers of El Paso.
