A serious semi-truck accident in El Paso on Wednesday, August 27, left six people injured and caused major traffic disruptions along Interstate 10 East near Lomaland and Gateway East. According to the El Paso Fire Department, five victims were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while one person suffered serious injuries. Three others declined medical treatment at the scene.
The El Paso truck accident occurred just before 11 a.m., forcing the closure of all eastbound lanes of I-10 at Lomaland for nearly 10 hours. Video footage showed a semi-truck hanging dangerously off the side of the interstate. The Texas Department of Transportation later confirmed that lanes reopened shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the I-10 crash, and no further details have been released at this time.
