LAS CRUCES, New Mexico — A wrong-way driver caused a crash on Interstate 10 early Sunday morning, May 4, 2025, injuring one person and closing part of the highway for several hours. According to New Mexico State Police, a 20-year-old driver, Isaiah Lopez, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when he collided head-on with another vehicle near mile marker 151, about five miles east of Las Cruces. Lopez, who was arrested for DWI, was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center. The female driver of the other car was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The crash caused the eastbound lanes of I-10 to be shut down for approximately five hours, but the highway has since reopened.
