Albuquerque, New Mexico – A tragic crash in northwest Albuquerque, New Mexico, has claimed the life of an adult woman after a collision involving a moped and another vehicle. The incident occurred Monday evening, June 9, at the intersection of Casa Verde and Ladera Drive NW.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, a vehicle had stopped at a stop sign on Casa Verde and waited before beginning a left turn onto Ladera. At that moment, a moped traveling at a high rate of speed on Ladera struck the front of the turning vehicle. The impact caused the moped rider to be ejected. She died at the scene. Authorities noted that the woman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Witnesses indicated the driver of the other vehicle appeared to check for traffic before initiating the turn. As a result of the collision, Ladera Drive NW was temporarily closed between Unser Boulevard and Parkway Drive NW.
