A tragic accident occurred on I-25 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Monday evening, resulting in the death of a male passenger in a civilian vehicle. Deputies from the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office were responding to an urgent call involving a child’s injury around 6:26 p.m., with emergency lights and sirens activated. As the deputies traveled through the Las Alturas area, a slower-moving vehicle reportedly pulled onto the freeway in front of their patrol unit. The deputies’ vehicle subsequently collided with the civilian car, which was occupied by a male passenger and a female driver.

Emergency responders transported the deputies and the civilian driver to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, the male passenger was unresponsive at the scene and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
