El Paso, TX – A serious multi-vehicle crash shut down I-10 West in Central El Paso on Monday, July 7. The accident occurred near Copia Street at approximately 1:10 p.m., prompting a swift response from the Police Department. According to officials, five individuals were injured, including four police officers. Three officers sustained minor injuries, while one officer suffered serious injuries.
The El Paso Fire Department and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) coordinated traffic detours at the Raynolds exit, and all westbound lanes, along with the Raynolds overpass, remained closed for about five hours. By 6 p.m., TxDOT confirmed that all lanes had reopened.
The cause of the crash and the exact number of vehicles involved have not yet been disclosed. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
