A 23-year-old woman died Thursday morning in a crash involving a car and a semi-truck in Northwest El Paso, according to the El Paso Police Department. Authorities identified the victim as Brissa Celestte Rodriguez of New Mexico.
Police said Rodriguez drove a 2015 Nissan Sentra that rear-ended a semi-truck on the 900 block of Artcraft Road near Westside Drive, close to the Texas–New Mexico border. Officers reported that the car was traveling at a high speed before the impact. After the crash, the front of the Sentra became lodged under the semi-trailer.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but Rodriguez died from her injuries. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision. Police have not yet released additional contributing factors.
This crash represents the 19th traffic fatality in El Paso in 2026. During the same time last year, officials recorded 21 fatalities.
