What Are the Common Causes of Car Accidents?

Common causes of car accidents include the following:

  • Speeding,
  • Distracted driving,
  • Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,
  • Reckless driving,
  • Improper use of turn signals,
  • Running red lights,
  • Road rage,
  • Tailgating, and
  • Failure to abide by other traffic laws.

Other causes of car accidents include construction, defective roads, and poor weather conditions.

How Long Do You Have to File a Car Accident Claim?

Every claim has a statute of limitations, which is a timeline where an injured party can bring a claim against the party who wronged them. Car accident claims fall under the personal injury umbrella.

In Texas, you have two years to file a personal injury claim. The clock starts to tick on the day the action occurs, which in this case is the date of the car accident. If you fail to file your claim by this deadline, you are generally precluded from financial recovery.

Don’t delay in contacting a seasoned car accident attorney. We don’t want you to lose your opportunity to receive compensation from the negligent party.
