Roswell, New Mexico — A tragic two-vehicle crash in northwest Roswell on March 10 killed a 16-year-old girl and injured five others. The accident occurred around 6:35 p.m. near North Union Avenue and West 19th Street.
According to the Roswell Police Department’s Traffic Division, a Honda Accord carrying four teenagers sped southbound in the tragic Roswell New Mexico crash. Investigators believe the 17-year-old driver lost control. Consequently, the car crossed into the path of a northbound GMC Yukon, causing a violent near head-on collision.
All six individuals received immediate medical attention. In the Honda, the 16-year-old girl died at the hospital. Two 17-year-old boys suffered severe injuries and were transferred to an out-of-area hospital. Meanwhile, a 15-year-old girl had non-life-threatening injuries and was treated locally. The GMC Yukon’s 56-year-old driver and her 11-year-old daughter were also treated and released.
Police continue investigating the crash and expect to file charges once their reconstruction is complete. They noted that the Honda’s high speed likely caused the loss of control. Additionally, authorities withheld the victims’ names to allow families to be notified first.
