A serious head-on crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on New Mexico Highway 371 near mile marker 102, resulting in major traffic delays and potential fatalities. George Stokes, a local semitrailer driver, witnessed the crash and promptly called 9-1-1 at 3:47 p.m. According to Stokes, the collision took place after the driver of a white car attempted to pass another vehicle by entering the oncoming lane. A tan vehicle, trying to avoid the incoming car, was struck head-on when there was no room to maneuver.

Following the collision, one vehicle caught fire, which Stokes helped extinguish. He and another witness pulled the driver of the white car from the wreckage, and paramedics transported that individual from the scene. Sadly, the condition of the occupants of the tan vehicle remains uncertain, though Stokes reported they may have died from their injuries.

New Mexico State Police are currently investigating the incident, and further details are pending the release of the official accident report.
