What You Need to Know About Filing for Wrongful Death

Whether you lost a loved one in this fatal car crash in Rio Arriba County or one similar, you may not know what your legal options are. Such a tragedy often comes with lifelong emotional damage that can be difficult to measure. However, families pursuing a wrongful death claim may seek various types of damages. This includes economic damages, which aim to compensate for financial losses such as funeral and burial costs, lost income, and future earnings the deceased would have provided. In addition, families may also seek non-economic damages, which encompass the emotional pain and suffering, loss of companionship, and mental anguish experienced by the surviving family members. An experienced wrongful death attorney will be able to take the full extent of your loss into account and help advocate for your family when negotiating with the insurance company.
