Las Cruces, NM – A tragic chain-reaction crash on Interstate 10 in Las Cruces, NM, claimed the life of a 35-year-old El Paso resident on Friday, January 31, 2025. According to New Mexico State Police, the accident occurred around 4 p.m. near mile marker 140, close to the Mesilla turnoff.
Authorities reported that a semi-truck entered a construction zone and rear-ended a passenger vehicle, setting off a multi-vehicle collision involving two passenger cars and two semi-trucks. Sadly, the driver of the impacted passenger vehicle, Josie Cardona of El Paso, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances of the crash.
